Im planning to go to the next round of nightspeed and want to remove some of the interior to save weight.
Im wanting to remove the rear seats, the spare wheel and a few more parts in the rear. This will all be put back in the next day
What can and cant i remove!

Its probably class dependent! Don't they have a spec sheet or requirements and rules document!
As a rule of thumb, unless it says you can't you can't do something then you can. Smokey Yunick springs to mind.

I was meaning what i can remove and still be allowed to drive to the track.
It seems that im allowed to remove the rear seats but i have to take out the seatbelts as well.

Cavity holes in the front doors /footwells etc MUST be covered for road usage. Don't think it matters behind the front seats as long as theres no passengers. Just flip the seats out at the track

you are aloud to take the back seat out aslong as you take out the seatbelts aswell then its classes as a 2 seater

I have been told that the door cards must stay but anything else is alright for removal just as long as no-one can be seated/restrained when the seat is removed. Taking the seats out at the track isnt an option as all my mates are busy and i would have nowhere to put them.

Itll just look funny since its a 5dr

do you think that the few kgs will make a any difference

vs the time putting it all back in.

Removing interior will save you bugger all unless your needing nano seconds to win. you will rarely green light the same each time so there goes any savings unless you are a profecint drag racer and have the same reaction times. A spinning wheel, wind, track and so fourth all slow you down or speed you up and can be also different each time. Unless your removing huge weight I wouldnt bother.

Don't under estimate the difference weight loss can make.however in most saloons you'd need to start swapping glass and/or panels and battery to get a measurable difference. If you got really serious on a 1000kg car you may be able to shed 50kg, and that's worth it. But you're talking side windows etc. Lightened fly will save more, faster.

Yip large weight difference do, but small things marginal.

The car is supposedly 950kg from factory and i plan to make it as light at possible to get a good time and to beat a friends time.
I used to have a sub in it but removed it and the car now accelerates alot faster.

That was because of the removed wank factor, not the weight.

What sort of car is it! Must be gutless for such a small weight change to make a difference.

Must have been a freaking large sub to notice it accelorating quicker. What do you wiegh! Maybe you should shed some before stripping out the car. Just a suggestion

Its an ep91 starlet only has 72hp(proven) so removing weight does wonders.
As to how much i weigh. Just weighed myself and im only 60kg

Had to remove it as the amp f#%ked out

Just make sure you take a dump before you run.
I would have thought that for what you are doing, perfect tyre pressures (maybe slightly smaller driven wheels even), and sharp reaction times would be of far more benefit than stuffing around with the seats.
Look, to be honest, a car is what it is and you can't realistically compare different makes, if they are different capacities, state of tune, gear and final drive ratios etc., on what I presume is just a straight drag!
Twink's smaller engined Escort will always beat my 3 litre GT, as we are not comparing apples with apples.

I run in dyo class (staggered start) so im just there to have fun and try to get the best time i can

Subs are not all a wank factor, better ban subs. Subs will improve your music experience if done right.

I know its about consistency but i want to try to get the best time i can with this engine. Im just trying to make it into the 17's

Losing weight is the cheapest hp gain you'll get. Example - MG Metro, 810kgs factory, 72hp standard - 88.9 hp/tonne. Front seats weigh 15kgs each, rear seats ~20kg combined. Spare wheel/jack ~15kg. Remove passengers seat, rear seats and spare wheel/jack I save ~50 kg. Now have 94.7 hp/tonne. Big difference for 10 minutes work (and 10 mintues at the end of the day, of course). I've done this many times at the track and at hillclimbs and left seats on the side of the road/pits under a tarp.
Given the quoted numbers for your starlet, you would get an increase of just over 4 hp/tonne by losing 50kg which is more than doable by removing seats and spare.
Beyond that though there is less return for the effort - carpet (more particularly underlay) is probably the next best gain for a given time. Door cards etc are hardly worth it on a road car.

Dont think ill go as far as removing the passenger seat.Door cards are required to pass the inspection at the track and i think they are required for road use.
Cheers for the positive advice.

Cheers guys.
I took out all the stuff in the rear and i think it helped my times. I managed to do a 17.6@123kph and got 3rd in dyo. :) Didnt do a single 18sec pass which is better than last time.
