are there any laws on fitting bullbars or dramas when going for a WOF!
Alot of 4wd's in oz have these types of bullbars but they don't seem very common over here.

Having just done a panel beating course.

MOST of the cars late model cars need replacemnet panels to be fitted with a Torque ratchet, same as doing up the head bolts. This is due to air bags.

Also was told that you don't put more in or take any out any extra bolts, cause of the air bags & the crample (sp) zones.

Many modern bullbars are now made to work in conjunction with airbags.
The job just needs to be done properly

So .in basic terms

If the vehicle is .
Manufactured on or after 2003
Has air bag systems

Means you can't simply bolt on any old bullbar with out it being compliant with & to THAT perticuler vehicle

Apart from the above, the normal rules apply .

Flush or very close to flush fitting to the body
Nothing sharp
Bolted (NOT welded) to the chassis
Impact flexable (Not rigid)
