VS ('96) Statesman

Car is in excellent nic, low(ish) km's (less than 90K actually).Only issues are a few of the electronics functions ie, distance to empty, is nolonger working and I can have trouble with keyed locking - but using remote/key pad is fine.Have disconnected battery a few times to "reboot" electronics with no real luck.Mechanic says dash will need to be removed and sent to specialist to MAYBE fix electronic issues - replacement parts are nolonger made.Does anyone 1) follow what I'm on about from personal/industry experience and 2) if so, would you care to please add anything/make any suggestions!Thanks in advance.

Unless the fix for the DTE function is known to be a straightforward one, be it a replaceable part thats failed or a bad circuit joint then its not really worth mucking with, ditto the door lock problem.If the problem is in the cluster you could just replace it with another one, perhaps one out of a Calais might be the same or useable, but then theres the issue of sorting odo readings etc, depends on how far you wanted to go.If the key still unlocks the drivers door manually should something go wrong with the keypad then whats the problem!Very few people use keys at all if the remote system is working fine.If the keypad is dodgy just replace it,
