Prob is, the scum bag that stole the car will only be charged as a youth. And even if it was an adult that done it, our laws are to soft to inflict an equal amount of pain as the little scum bag has done to the victim's family. If ya know what I mean. Good old media also getting the boy racer angle when it was a thief, a common crim, some bottom feeding maggot sucking &^^^&%^&%##@$$**that caused the crash and then fled the scene

we almost had a head on collision with some halfwit in a hilux down taumarunui crossing a bridge south of taumarunui 2 cars came as whe where on the bridge with concreet railing so no where to go as they where on the bridge passing uss. the bridge almost ended in asharp turn and a hilux came straight out the turn on to our side of the road. I slowed my car as hard as i could without locking the brakes and pulling the car towards the concreet railing. in the last secound he reacted and pulled his 90s hilux back to his side of the road missing uss bi only inches. I am sure we would have probably been dead if he hit uss at 60+kph and smasshing uss thru the bridge in to the river. (If we where 1 secound faster he would have got uss) the halfwit was probably texting or something. There was nothing i could have done more to avoid death.

exact same situation a couple of months back. Had a van pull out of a line of cars over on to my side of the road as I was driving over a bridge. No where to go and nothing to do but think, this is it. Last sec he swerved back. Not sure how he never even clipped us. It was that close. I guess there must be hundreds of these types of near death misses every year on our roads intrade, kind of puts your heat in your mouth for a few secs eh!

Blame the parents. I bet none of your offspring ever behave in this manner FP. I bet his father and probably grandfather where car theives too. The difference is the modern car is faster with a far higher level of adhesion. Therefore the speed at which you lose control is such that you are in the poo big time.

Headline and first paragraph is bullshit though.
Blaming Boy Racers. He is a thief His souped up car.not his, he is a thief
I just love how they feel they can actually rewrite and taint the facts.

dose it really matter. It's a kid in a car speeding. they need to be stopped. as poster above says maybe it needs to start with proper parenting.

even boy racers stop for red lights, theres not many of them with a death wish and go round jumping lights typical press though, the victim is into legitimate racing, and thats a big no-no, so lets label him and make a story about it as others have noted, a stolen car by a 15 yr old, got 2 lines max

The consequences need to be harsh enough to be a deterrant! Spending time helping people with severe brain injuries caused by someone else's stupidity could be a start.

They will when he gets to court.Facts are the only thing that do matter.
It is once again irresponsible to skew this type of thing for sensationalism.
If it stated "Wannabe Boy Racer" I would not have an issue.

Actually mate thats a bit of a double edged sword.Don't get me wrongI aggree with your sentiment. BUT I'm all for any sensationalism of a scumbag being quashed. Scumbag stole car then was out driving at a 'boy racer meetup" -Why give the little scum ANY press at all !

My thoughts exactly! At 15 probably unlicensed driver, speeding , stolen car. The law only stops those that are prepared to abide by them. Be interesting to see what his sentancewill be.

We were at a set of lights waiting to turn onto motorway, light went green and I forgot I had slipped it into neutral so popped back to 1st and started driving when some twat in a boyracer spec merc ran the red light at least 100+ and would of T-Boned us if i was like half a second quicker.
We caught up to them about 5km up at the next set of lights and the Mrs hung out her window and really gave them a bollocking, The driver and his little buddies wouldnt put their window down or even look, just stared straight ahead looking slightly green around the edges.

hang on kaz, the guy that got quashed was not the thief, not racing the dick that got him was in a stolen car and jumped a red the fact that the guy was on his way to a legit organised racing event where he was to be a competitor has been twisted and used to label him as an undesirable - yea gods, he was doing what we all say he should - take it to the track ( legit race) target the thieves and dangerous driving habits, encourage the controlled and sensible learning of legitimate driving, not that the thieves and wankers will ever show up to learn though

skin--I aggree totally with what you are saying--apsolutely 100% I think you are mistreading my point. My point being that the scum car thief shouldn't have even got 2 lines in the paper. Why sensationalise their actions so they get their 2 minutes of glory. You and I would be horrified to be labled as the guy that killed an innocent-but to some its fame. -basicly my view is that they should be shunned.

how is the 15 year old not a boy racer! He is a boy and he was racing! I quote you guys "Witnesses saw two cars racing along Carbine Rd about 2.50am, when one of the vehicles, a stolen Subaru Forester, ran a red light, police said" Just because he stole the car does not exclude him from being a "boy" and "racing" http://www.stuff.co.nz/sunday-star-times/latest-edition/6226854/Teens-arrested-after-fatal-crash

lol, yep thats me again, misreading it, aagain what a pity the press had to go to such lengths, although I may be misreading that too - if they had not we would not know that Shaun was a legit racer, and that he was following a ligit course of action to follow his dream, perhaps if I read it in that light - as a commendation to him and a very brief condemnation of the wanker with as little mention possible it may make more sense

The only thing is skin. Sorry if this seems horrible but one question that leapt into my head. Why was someone intending to race in a few hours out at 2.30amIn the car he would be racing AND at a meetup point for night drag racers! It doen't add up in my head given I'm in bed asleep at 10pm the night before a race meeting-and there is NO way I'd be risking my race car/bike Again sorry I'm prolly just a cynical old barsteward

I have the fortune - or misfortune - to live well south of the bombays, sth taranaki is a bit of a hike from pokeno - but from what I recall carbine rd doesn't have a lot of lights, actually used to work down carbine rd, little place called lundia shelving, back when it was a two bay garage sized company - and they were on a new section surrounded by cows and sheep, wouldn't have thought carbine rd would be the choice for night drags, permanent speed camera at waipuna end and kinda easy to close in

skin-They kinda go from place to place getting in a couple ofdonuts orraces before the cops arive and they head to the next place. Basicly they look for straightish roads in industrial areas.
