Was there ever such a thing as fluro Monaro's! (HQ - HZ maybe) in fluro pink, green & yellow! I remember as a young fella pumping gas & a customer had a white Monaro that had almost fluro pink door jambs & under bonnet etc. He said he didnt like the pink so he painted it. I cant remember if it was him or not, but I was told that Holden did a limited run of fluro monaro's in pink, lime green & yellow. Anyone know anything about them! Is this true or am I dreaming! Thanks.

On HQ's there was definitely a metallic pink shade offered, not only on Monaros but Kingys and LJ Toranas too.Seem to remember lime green and yellow ones too, perhaps Australian assembled versions, I don't think there were any done here.I'm sure you could get an XU-1 in a bright pink.
Thanks Pete, but no, I'm pretty sure this was an HQ (no folds(!) on the bonnet). The colours were definitely like 'dayglow'. The yellow was definitely like faded dayglow.

I rememeber those. Painting over one wouldv'e been very stupid back then and moreso now. Why stuff with a genuine limited edition of such small numbers!

LOL, I started off saying it was pink & ended-up remembering green. Doh! All I know is I'm sure I've seen these 3 x colours on Manaro's & wondered if they were 'special', thanks guys.

Yep now you mention it my mate in Gisborne few years ago now had apink HQMonaroI thought someone had painted it that colour for a laugh all pink with black interior trim
HQ Monaros were painted (options) Strike me pink, Lone o ranger and Barbados green. Thoes are the brightest (fluro) GMH used in the '70s.

That was exactly the idea.
I read an article years ago where one of the GMH stylists wanted to replicate the colours coming out of the states. It didn't last long as an option on the munros because the body shape didn't work with the colours. If you stand square on to the side of an HQ-HZ munro you will see the roof line goes up from back to front and with the bright colours it made the back look squashed and the front a wide gaping hole.
