AA or VTNZ. whos most thourough!

curlcrown, Jan 9, 12:51am
They both have thousands upon thousands dollars wort of fancey tools and spend a long time looking at car yet are still not very good.

trdbzr, Jan 9, 12:52am
Neither. Avoid both. Just pay a good mechanic the same amount to give the car a proper inspection.

Both are useless. Pay a real mechanic to do it. Why do you think they work for AA or VTNZ because they was not good at being mechanics.
Hell Pukekohe VTNZ has 2 inspectors who aint qualified as being mechanics they only working there because they have worked in a workshop for 5 years.

Get a mechanic to look at the vehicle

gusthe1, Jan 9, 2:09am
Just buy the car and save the fee. If something goes wrong start a thread on Trade Me going on about the Consumer Garuntees Act.

shortee2, Jan 9, 2:40am
Neither. AA are totally useless, not worth the paper its written on, VTNZ, would just do the usual warrant check, couldnt tell you if the Motor was stuffed.

luxy, Jan 9, 2:44am
avoid both, they never say anything good. I would never allow a aa report on any car that i sold regardless of how good the carwas

If you want to get a car checked. Take it to the corresponding dealers workshop. So say its a holden take it to a holden dealership workshop. Ask them to spend an hour looking it over for any faults or problems.

Going to the franchisee and paying for 1 hours labour + GST works out cheaper, and they know what to look for in specific models etc and can give you a very good comparisson on the condition of the model you have taken in compared to others of the same model they work on or have seen.

+1, damn right.A long experienced franchise mechanic will be able to compared how the car feels compared to others of similar age/kms, anything that seems out of the ordinary will be obvious, this is important when carrying out PP inspections. The other thing the dealership can check for on later model cars is whether any outstanding recall work might be needed.
