Asking questions

What is it about car dealers that they cant answer questions. You ask a particular question about a car on TM and you get a whole page of spiel none of which answers your question OR the first line says "Are you interested in this car!" Would I be asking questions if I wasnt.Sorry just a Sunday morning rant.

I find most customer service staff these days - not all, but most - are ignorant about all but the cost of the products they sell.

STUPID! Quite presumptious of you. Nothing like that at all. It was aboutsome of the extras that might be on the car. I wouldnt anwer dumb questions like "what's the lowest you will take", myself.

What's stopping you from picking up the phone and asking the same questions! We find that most of our e-mail enquiries don't go anywhere, I know that I am growing tired of responding to e-mail enquiries only to find the contact stops there. Now I'm just asking for their phone numbers to contact them directly, that usually weeds out the tyre kickers from the genuine interested parties.

Allow me to answer that as another 'customer'.

Nothing is stopping me. But the seller has an email addy for inquiries so I might use it. I don't care that you have found they lead nowhere, that's your problem. And, if you reply asking for my ph number without the answer to the q i asked i will be pissed.

Agree - I often ask questions on auctions (cars included). Some dealers answer within minutes, others same day (which is ok), others not at all.I prefer to email than use the phone, as I then have a record of what I have asked.Especially if I am looking at several cars (helps me to remember features / issues of each).I only ask questions on auctions that I would be interested in.However I do agree that it seems quite common for none of the people asking questions to end up bidding.I usually wait until close to the end of an auction to bid, and obviously wouldn't bother if the price gets too high. What does annoy me is people who say 'I can buy this car from XX for $$$ less - if thats the case, then why don't they ;-)
