My 2004 Bayliner Mercruiser 135 is having a problem idling when hot. It starts OK from cold with a bit of throttle, but after its been stopped for a while (10-20 minutes) it will start OK but it idles at low revs and barely keeps going and often stalls, I usually have to give it some throttle to get it usuable . I'm using 91 octane fuel at a location 300m above sea level and it has new plugs. Its running at 800rpm when hot in neutral. Also if I don't let it idle for a minute after a fast run then it will "run on" (diesling!)and not stop nicely. I think it might need the timing checked, fuel mix checked and the idle speed set. Any experts out there!

You could take the guess work out of it by going here. http://southcitymarine.co.nz/service.php When was it last serviced !. Did you change the plugs in the hope that was the problem. If you think the timing is out find out what it should be and check it.When a boat fails to go you could be along swim away from shore. Also if I don't let it idle for a minute after a fast run then it will "run on" (diesling!) .my old landrover does that after a hard thrashing, i am told that its caused by carbon build up
