My mate just brought a 1998 LDV Convoy wioth a3.5l v8 Rovor engine, i know its a big van but is there any thing we can do to get a bit more from the Motor !

Yep there sure is!
Some Options: *Replace the cam with a stage 1 from auckland cam services(old 3.5 one likely worn by now as they do) *Source a 3.9 rover with fuel injection *Find a dirty old leyland p76 to drop in!
If you just want a bit more out of the 3.5 you have, consider a proper four barrell manifold like a harcourt or willpower and a edelbrock/weber 500 carb, you will hardly believe the difference if you have the restrictive S.U carbs

Buy a wrecked LP range rover and swap the 4.6 into the Van. The last of the 4.6's made good power.

OK yeah 1998 I guess it would have injection, lol. The 4.6 would be the go however the 3.9 didnt have the problems with the liners that the 4.6 had. those 3.5's came in two compression ratios 8:35:1! and 9:35:1,I think most of those vans had the lower compression motor. Rovers/Buick v8's are expensive to get power out of,my offroader runs a p76 4.4,but I think Il ditch it when I want more power and go something like a 302w,not a heap heavier and more power

Take tops off the carbs and lift the needle 0.5 - 1mm.
and you will probley have to ajust the idle That will allow more fuel.
