I did a compression test and found one cylinder was low about half of one that had the top reading just wondeing if theres any tricks to help bring up compression before pulling it all to bits (again) and doing a valve grind job already changed inlet gaskets.

have you squirted oil down the plug hole to confirm it not ring related!

The usual test is to put a squirt of oil in each cylinder and then retest the compression. If it comes up a lot it means the rings are leaking. If it makes little difference then it will probably be the valves.
You say again. Does that mean it's a new engine! Perhaps it needs a careful drive to settle the rings in. If you start new motors and let them idle or if you drive them the wrong way they can get a layer of oil under the rings that stops them sealing. Not so likely since it's only one cylinder but it could be worth having a read up on running in techniques and then taking it for a decent run.

What i mean again is i changed the valley cove gasket after i checked pushrods, lifters might have to just bite the bullet and do the heads.

They call it "microscore"

If doing the oil down the cylinder test do you pull all the plugs except the one your test when doing a compression test!

^^^ thats fine if you are real fussy like it was a race motorbut the oil test will tell him what he needs to know & cost FAKISS principal
