failed today on the front light being cracked. its passed 2 times before this. i went to a different place this time as i had a free voucher. its $500 for a new headlight, so i dont really want to go that path as you can understand.
if i went to another place tomorrow that passed me last time, would they see im in the system as a fail. i done this last time but it was about 3 months apart from getting a new warrant. im thinking it might be different this time since im still in the 28 day period.
anyone had any experience with this! thanks

Yes, but all they will see is that the car failed on "lights" (so it could be a brake light, indicator light, etc.) or "other". If the headlight only has a crack, with no chunks missing, and the beam is not altered because of it, you can simply glue it up with some clear RTV, but very thinly, or some other clear type glue. Basically, there can't be moisture in the lens and the beam must be correct and reflector undamaged / faded.

Get some of that clear plastic stuff that you stick on the headlights, not only stops moisture getting in but protects lights against further damage. Sorry cant remember what its called.

Yep we have replaced a pair of "smart headlights" before in a late model 5 series beemer - $4500 EACH (plus fitting and PROGRAMMING!)

yep had same from one workshop quote 1000 for 3 different lights wait 28 days went to another workshop and passed , will clean up lights and gluefour next time
