only like petrol! You've got one of the good ones.

those 2.4 engines are prone to oil consumption - I would try Mitsubishi's own oil, otherwise try a 20W50 grade.

Yeah i should of done some investigating before buying a bloody Chariiot but it looked good as it has the body kit on it and drove okay around the block, 1000 ks later had nothing but problems, im taking the Speedy 5000 from penrose to the consumers affairs, they wont fix nothing the buggers

how long have you had it for! they just have too many things which can go wrong - the GDI system tends to get blocked up and spits out black smoke, which the unburnt fuel gets into the oil and dilutes it, the rings wear out prematurely. They tend to be owned by the people who are unlikely to give them the servicing they require, a recipe for disaster.

About 2 months, ive had so many things go wrong with it, engine mounts broken, shakes when i brake heavy especially down step hills, door locks fall in door, rear brake cylindars leaking and doors dont stay open, and a few other problems that i cant think of at the moment, ive taken it back to car dealer i purchased it from 5-6 times and nothing is ever fixed properly if fixed at all, now they are telling me ive done to many ks and that the car is not a brand new one.I have had the problems before i clocked up ks but they never fix the problems that were obvious within the first week i had vehicle.BUGGERS ! !

Bushes are buggered and i feel every single little bump on the road to the extent it judders and the glove box bounces open from the shuddering, it is that bad.

Sounds like you've actually had a reasonable run so far.The financial pain REALLY starts when the fuel and ignition systems give problems and shall we talk about Mitsi's tiptronic autos!Time for the knackers yard my friend, these things were never meant to be on the road for this long and were never intended to end up here running on what our fuel retailers claim is petrol.

Avoid GDI like the plague.

Definitely avoid being GDI. Also avoid any modern car that burns oil, it ruins the Catalytic converters.

avoid all GDI nz petrol doesn't have high enuf octane to burn properly in a GDI engine, there for carbon builds up in the manofold and it runs like a dog. this is what i was told by mitsubishi themselves, they had to soak engine parts in solvesnts to get the carbon off. I bought a 1998 mitsi GDI legnum years ago when they first came out, first week of owning it the tip tronic trans crapped it self, with in 3 month its was running like a complete dog. got rid of it soon after. never had such a complete waste of time vehicle
