My Triumph 2500TC's cylinder pressure should be! im not too sure whats going on as I tested the compression and get odd readings, 1=170psi 2=155psi 3= 150psi 4=160psi 5=175psi 6=157psi , Now i only did a quick test as it started to rain, so i havnt poped oil dont the cylinders and re tested, but im hoping its just that valves are badly adjusted, but id like to know what the pressures SHOULD be!

Oh and whats more, the car had been warmed up for the test, but as soon as i pulled the plugs oout of No 1 and No 5 smoke trickled out, Iv never seen this before!

IIRC 170 PSI is about right.

When you do the test watch the gauge. If the pressure pumps up a bit higher on each of the six turn-overs, then tops out, the rings are suspect and that can be confirmed by the oil down the bore test. If the pressure goes up to it's top reading on the first or second rotation, then tops out, the valves are probably the problem. The way the pressure rises on the gauge is as telling as the actual final pressure. Oil down the bore confirms it.
About 170 should be about right. Carbon build-up could causeit to be a bit higher. 150 is a bit weak really I'd think. I doubt they are meant to be 200. It's more important though that they are all the same withing ten pounds or so because gauges vary. If you try two different gauges you can get a tten or more pound difference quite often.

did you remove the pistons in the carb and hold the throttle openand warm the engine first

Only held the throttle open, I didnt think of the Pistons at the time, ah well Tomorrow she sill be cold and i can re-test the car+ valve lash

check your tappit clearances.you may have a tight one or two which will lower compression.your car should run OK with these figures for its agecheers
