hay,just changed head gasket in my evo 4 and its gone into limp mode took into mechanic and he reackons its run the bottom end coz knock sensor is putting it into safe mode but my issue is ive heard alota cars wit farked bottom ends and this anit makin no rattles or those infomus sounds we all know to be bottom end bearings before its stripped down and rebuild has anyone round here herd the same thing happen .A mate reackons that evo four knock senores play up and it may just need a new sensor ! any advise wuld be greatly appreiated

The knock sensor doesnt tell the ecu when theres a bottom end knock. Its for detonation detection. Your mechanic sounds like he wants your money if he's telling you the bottom ends gone and there's no audible rattling when you give it a few revs. How about you check for fault codes first and use another mechanic.

When you say limp mode, what exactly is it doing! I'm thinking you may have left a vacuum line or a plug off when you changed the head gasket.

Yeah, piston slap can cause knock sensor codes sometimes, butbearing knock won't do it I don't think.
More likely somehing you have done. or not done.

Just jokes,, if car was sweet before lfting head ( aprt from gasket issue) id say vacume pipes or even electrical conecters, If a temprature plug not seated proper computor wood think car stone cold an keep chock on Throttle sensor not on proper! go over every plug check underhood for any pipe diagrams.
