Would a coil pack cause intermittent missing?

friendly_prawn, Jan 14, 2:36pm
car (my listing) has struck a small hiccup. yesterday started to miss then it came right again. It has done it a couple of times in the past. Ages ago. Lose wire! coil pack!
do you think it will sell as is or fix the heap first! And how do you fix or diagnose if the issue isnt present at the time! Any thoughts please!

Could possably be a coil pack. I had a nz new maxima with the same problem and was the coil pack. Was a real pain as it was intermittent and could go weeks without doing it.

My money is def on the coil pack, they do exactly that when fecked.

I had an issue recently with intermittent missing.
In this case, it was a damaged HT lead.
(It could just as easily be the sender unit (pulse coil/trigger etc.) as well as the coil or leads.)

ignitor pack

bitchwitattitud, Jan 14, 4:58pm
A33s dont have ignitor packs, its ecu controlled. I would be looking at coilpacks or possibly airflow meter.

would any one know a rough estimate to fix if it was a coil pack!
Local shop says $115 to test and $450 just for coil pack with labour on top. Ouch.

a33. normaly one of the rearcoil packs. tryroscoes in ashburton. for one. or niscars in wellington. a little bit hard to get to. but you could do it yourself.

friendly_prawn, Jan 14, 7:27pm
problem is knowing which one to replace. especiallywhen the car is running fine.
also need proper diagnostic computer.
not quite so simple unfortunately.

I think you find the igniter is built into the coil packs. They can be tested when working with a scope you should be able to determine which coil pack is at fault. By the primary voltage. I would recommend a reputable Auto Electrician.

thanks bigfatmat.
Sounds like a really good idea.
Although i might not have too bother. After the prolem occured, I dropped the price heapsand now I seem to be getting lots of emails so it may just sell as is. Fingers crossed, otherwise I'll follow up on your option and phone an auto elecrician. Could be a much more sensible option.
cheers mate.

Buy one yourself, it only connects to one lead, they are $15.00 to buy maybe $30

450 for a coil, Ithink they are coiling you.

friendly_prawn, Jan 14, 9:36pm
where would you buy a coil from for that sort of money!

kiwis0, Jan 14, 9:45pm
I Use to get them from a auto parts shop, but I haven't brought one in 15 years .

jason18, Jan 14, 10:20pm
Ficher and Paykal doesnt have a coil pack!

fordcrzy, Jan 15, 12:34am
Make sure you in and clean all your earths on the car as bad earths on the engine cause the coil voltages to sky rocket and they fail

friendly_prawn, Sep 20, 10:40pm
soldddddddddddddddd
