439183825This car was bid upover reserve & then withdrawn by seller I
thought this was against the rules, maybe not, Looks like the seller was testing the market,. thoughts anyone, bids to $8750.00

twink19, Jan 16, 10:22pm
either sold it ,or thought it was worth more

Trademe made $49 off that auction, they aren't going to complain. But as twink said, most likely sold for more to someone else or they thought it was worth more.

Happens all the time,a great many of those auctions are a complete waste of time.

There should be no way to withdraw the auction once reserve is met. But TM get their listing fee and the withdrawl fee so what would they care!

damn nice car too. would have been worth approx $15k I would say.

Two sides to this perrenial argument.Number one is that until someone hands over the money, the car has not been sold and that means that if you advertise your car other than on TM (and why not!), sure you should be able to withdraw it.

The other side is that if you are going to list an item on a $1 auction, once a person has bid on it, there is a contract between buyer and seller and no way should the seller be able to withdraw.Ditto an auction when the reserve has been met.

Total scum IMO. If you put it up for auction, and it meets reserve. Its on the block to the highest bidder.

If you want a set price, list a classified.

yup 2 sides to everthing as #9 says on the other sidesome silly bidders put in outrageous bids with absolutely NO INTENTION of buying& then dont answer emails or anything. So you look up their "bid history" & see thev've done it before, Blacklist em is what I do.
