What I don't get is Appco is owned by Repco (or they have same owner, whatever it is) and yet they are usually always cheaper.weird.

It does pay to shop around, but is also handy to people that work in parts or service that will allow you to use there accounts to purchase stuff. But no matter how cheap Supercheap is, I will never spend another cent in there stores, due to piss poor customer service.

dizzy cap for 84 corolla repco $58 Parsmaster $13 (both prices incl trade discount) And yes I have found over the years that genuine parts can sometimes be cheaper, but when they are not they are 2-3 times the price Always ring around!

Drivers seatbelt for a toyota coaster. $1,820 (ex japan) from toyota. $106 from repco (autoliv belt). Shop around, repco arent always the most expensive.

Segedins cheaper than supercheap EVERY time. Staff seem to know their stuff too. Partmaster are ok if you can get trade discount.

That's because Appco just do parts with a front counter. Repco have a store with all sorts of parts and accessories and fluffy dice and air fresheners etc. So Repco have a much higher inventory cost of stuff that sells slowly. Agree, Appco for a part you need, Repco for a browse around interesting stuff to kill time.

For Jaguars, always check what the genuine part costs. For a real laugh! Example: Brake pads for handbrake, as used on all Jags 1960-1985, how about $782 genuine.Aftermarket around $70 which is still too high. For us, the last place we will go for parts is the Jag dealer, even overseas suppliers are much cheaper.

I think you perhaps missed the point. I did say "sometimes". Was simply agreeing that it DOES pay to shop around and that includes checking out the OEM price.
