If you think you can do PN to Manukau in 5 1/2 you need to add on time for officer stops.

7 hours from the Square to Glenfield. If you strike rush hour (1530~1830) then add another 1~11/2 hours!

But of course, everyone in Auckland has no need to use cars, as all travellers are supposed to be using the fantastic public transport system.
It may pay to turn off SH1 at Manukau (or even Takanini) and go around to the West of the city.If you are heading for Glenfield anyway, you may as well use the North Western Motorway and the Upper Harbour road.
