Hi, my wife and I are looking to fly to Wellington shortly and had heard of companies that need drivers to return rental cars for them.You drive the car from WGN back to AKL airport and they don't charge you.Has anyone here had any experience using this service. We plan to fly down and drive back up.

we did it with a campavan last year we just paid the fuel. ring round the companies wood be best way to find something
Quite a few on there at the moment. Decent mileage allowance too so you could take the scenic route.

Most of the rental car companies offer this service, some charge a minimal cost e.g. Avis $10 per day. Budget no daily charge. Generally two day maximum and 800-900 km allowance.Watch out for the insurance cost though, if you want to reduce your excess.
