as for lifetime updates, i think they're a waste of time when you consider you can't get the features updated

Good points

Good fast routes through town. Best-equal rural route. Very quick recalculation of routes. Easy to add "waypoints" to a route. Destinations are easy to find. Spoken instructions (including street names) are clear. Can pronounce Maori names (though with some incorrect intonation). Good lane information. Clear onscreen route information. Web interface is easy to use and is Mac/Windows compatible. Clear to read in bright sunlight.
But

Some speed-camera warnings are out of date. Touchscreen keyboard is a little small for large fingers. Predictive text not easy to use. Tricky to mount on the windscreen.

Good fast routes through town. Best-equal rural route. Very quick recalculation of routes. Easy to add "waypoints" to a route. Destinations are easy to find. Predictive text is fast and accurate. Very easy to choose between different (fastest, shortest) routes. Spoken instructions are clear. Good lane information. Displays useful road signs on screen at city and highway junctions. Touchscreen keyboard is good for larger fingers. Intuitive menu system. Has real-time traffic alerts.
But

Some speed camera warnings are out of date. Easy to accidentally reset unit when turning it on/off. Garbled pronunciation of Mãori (and literal pronunciation of some English) street names is annoying. Supplied Navdesk management software is complicated. No Mac support for management and updating of maps.

"Fastest route to airport" involved turning off the main route on to residential streets. Some speed-camera warnings were out of date. Can??

Get an android phone, I just put my phone in a holder on the dash and use the GPS function on it.
