Driving from Gisborne to Wellington on Friday.I normally pretty much stick to SH2 when travelling in this part of the country (which is not very often).Google maps suggests using SH50 through the Hawkes Bay.Is this quicker/better than sticking to SH2!

I use 50 all the time, nice drive but.there are a couple of corners that can & will catch ya out if ya not concentrating.

Yep I would go SH50 definately quicker, apart from a couple of one lane bridges(no worries) it's a good road, spits you out just south of takapau

i seem to recal sh 50 is only a km quicker in distancebut due to lack of traffic its faster.a nice drivego for it . sometimesa cop sits on the side of the road a few ks past the tikokino pub . keep an eye out
