A lot can happen in 4,000k's. If it was a week ago I'd be concerned, but other then that some things don't really show signs until they go.

must admit, I wouldnt be concerened either.wouldnt neccesarily shown signs of failure, also surely that would be in a hard place to spot anyway. I agree totally withunbeatabull's post. Hope you dont mind me posting in your thread cocabowla.

plus invariably they are covered in dust and trash, especially where that has split, some even have the entire cap covered with a rubber cap, how are they supposed to see any damage cos they sure don't go peeling back rubber caps to check underneath them and if they did you ( and me ) would be howling loud and long about them exceeding their usefulness, same way we would if they started running magnets along sills and bottom of door panels

its plainly visible under the bonnet ( i shouldhave stated TOP mount ! ) , no caps on this one at all. the other side had superficial cracking all round the outer edge since purchase .
guess its just the pitfalls of owning 21 yr old vehicles that can (not always i know ) turn into bottomless money pits
