YO JAZZPIMA!

Stripes look good on real cars - not on this P.O.S. though.

richardmayes, Jun 30, 10:02am
The seller is incorrect, that car does have something wrong with it - two big black "look at my V8 it's really cool" stripes down the middle.

But was it really worth making a thread about it! I have never seen Jazz recommend a Fiat Brava.

And the car must be "real" or the camera would not have been able to take a picture of it.

Thats why I put the thread up! so he could tell me yay or nay. If you dont ask youll never know.

Dont like it! dont come into a thread calling out someone other than you! its that simple.

Freedom of speech anyone can post in any thread regardless if you like it or not.

Good god man! Get off the cross and stop trying to be a freakin hero for man kind!

richardmayes, Jun 30, 11:53am
I'm sorry, what question are you asking here!

gilligan2, Jun 30, 12:01pm
I wasnt asking you anything. This thread is a follow up to a discussion me and alex had yesterday.

richardmayes, Jun 30, 12:09pm
Sorry, from the way you spoke about asking something I assumed you were asking something. Silly me. Will leave your private thread alone now.

Hi gilligan2,
Bravo's with the 1.6 are generally very good. Its pretty much the same engine/transmission as in my Multipla and its a real cracker of a motor capable of very high km's without burning oil or requiring major intervention. They are not as economical as a Punto for urban running but they are pretty good for a 1.6.

The Bravo is actually quite capable on the open road too. Just be aware that for some reason the dopy importers imported a bunch without air conditioning so it may not have that fitted.

With regard to that particular car, the stripes do worry me a bit, not so much from a looks perspective but someone who has done that to a car has likely given it a thrashing. I also notice it has had Alfa Romeo wheels added.

Price wise if it was unmolested that would be O.K but is perhaps a smidgen high for one thats been messed with so perhaps try and knock them back a couple of hundred if you like it.

Also, check on when the timing belt was done (off hand its about 110'000km/5years whichever comes first. Those do need the Fiat Cam Locking tools to do the change properly so if its due you will need to get it done somewhere that has those, I would recommend Italian Auto Centre up your way.

If you want to do the cambelt yourself and you ask nicely Italian Auto's may lend you the tools if you buy the timing belt kit from them.

This model was prone to the dashboard going "sticky" with our U.V light here in NZ. Its only a cosmetic thing and often most or all of it can be unclipped and painted with a spray can to good effect.

So as a car, I thoroughly recommend them. This particular one has me a bit nervous given whats been done to it. Its up to you to check what sort of condition its in because even a basic and reliable car like this can give problems if its been neglected/monkeyed with/thrashed.

If you like it when you have seen/tested it perhaps consider getting it checked at the Italian Auto Centre if that can be arranged for a reasonable price.

Good luck!

Oh, and as a price comparisson, there was a really nice looking example with 120K on the clock and a freshly changed cambelt/tensioners/waterpump in Wanganui a few weeks ago for $2500.

gilligan2, Jun 30, 2:12pm
hey thanks man. that was what i wanted from this thread. they dont seem keen on dropping the price on that 1 so ill keep looking, but its nice to know that they are not a bad alternative to a punto if i cant find a punto for the right price in time.

gilligan2, Jun 30, 2:13pm
yes that was rather misleading. i apologise

thejazzpianoma, Jun 30, 4:41pm
Compared to a MK1 Punto they are a considerably more refined vehicle and much more expensive new. Remember Brava/Bravo/Marea are pretty much variations on the same theme.

I think you are doing the right thing passing on that one. I didn't feel very comfortable about you buying that one on my advice in case it had been abused.

Hopefully we will see some more cracker buys before your 2 weeks are up.
Good luck!

Goodness gracious me !

LO F'N L.

That vinyl stripe takes the cake.

Whoever put that onto that Fiat, can't be right in the head.

Aspergers syndrome, or something like that.
