I am getting a bit bored with my Harrier 4WD although it is a wonderfully comfortable & reliable but thirsty hack.I note a Multipla on at the moment for 5500 but no Tourans near the 10k price you have mentioned as a target.Wouldn't mind to give a Multipla a go, but has your enthusiasm for VW Tourans driven up the price!

Sorry I missed this post earlier,
No my enthusiasim does not tend to alter the price. Tourans were selling up around 16K but a few started selling very low for a bit. To get one for 10K is entirely possible but its a matter of waiting for a bargain.
I know the Multipla you have in mind, thats very good buying for what it is and at half the price of the Touran represents excellent buying.
What I was getting concerned about was people paying 9K forMultipla when they could get a Touran for just another thousand dollars and a bit of patience.

Go for gold! That Multpla is going to be stupidly cheap to run compared to the Harrier and a lot easier to maneuver in town. Its still very comfortable to travel in as well.

Just remember to factor in a timing belt change if its due, this should be a $600 -$800 ish job done properly (including water pump, tensioners etc) and can be done by any competent general garage. Its a very simple engine to work on and dosn't require any bizarre tools.

Order the parts yourself from Italian Auto Centre or Dino Enterprises and then you know you proper genuine bits are being used and the price is good.
