I have a nissan atlas with td27 in it,I am lucky if I get over 200kms out of a tank of diesel, have done all filters and it doesnt blow clouds of black smoke when being driven.it has done 720,000kms and has nothing done to the engine except new seals in injector pump 5 yrs ago.the fuel consumption has slowly been getting worse in last six months.does anybody have any ideas. thanks

No fuel leak,I was guessing injectors as it has lost a bit of power as well, thankscould putting new injectors in put the engine at risk of blowing up,it doesnt use any water or oil,but im guessing is pretty worn with those kms on it.thanks

It would be interesting just to find out what the engine compressions are at that distance traveled.
Plus there's a fair chance you'd be looking at a set of injectors and having the inj pump completely overhauled and calibrated by a reputable diesel engineering place.
Possibly even cheaper to get another engine from a lower distance covered vehicle with a known history, or even another vehicle complete after all 720,000 kms traveled is pretty much game over for the engine, some do lots more and some don't get anywhere near that distance done, let alone the rest of the vehicle!

Thanks,I will give some new injectors a go,Ive had it 9 years and and its done a lot of work and has cost me nothing in repairs, and it can still get a wof.

720,000k is damn all for those engines, chuck a set of injectors in it.
