I suppose this question has been asked many a timebut whats the general rule of thumb for km per litre consumption of a 2.2L V6 sedan!

It dosn't really work like that. CC rating has very little correlation to economy in a modern car at all. Even the very same engine fitted to different cars will have quite different economy. Why not tell us more about what you are trying to achieve, then we can be more helpful.

Nah easy question to answer. At open road (100km/h) the engine will use between 7L/100km and 20L/100km.

The general rule is this: the fuel consumption is directly related to the engine's efficiency at converting heat into mechanical power at the rpm band that it's generally operating. Hope that helps!
