open diff as opposed to locked diff or lsd(limited slip diff)
and if you pull the handbrake on a few clicks you can often drive them out of a situation like that

posted in your other thread lol grab a set of snow chains, or mud chains ( there is quite a difference between them) and don't get off the road without them until summer

Also you can let the tyres down to about 10 pounds pressure, this gives a larger 'footprint' and it works
