Just got sideswiped at a roundabout.

usefulidiot, Jun 22, 8:30am
I was travelling straight through a roundabout from a stand still. The other driver hit my left rear as she entered the roundabout looking to turn left after I had gone past her.

She has insurance, I do not.We have exchanged details.

What do I expect now!I hope I don't have to pay anything as it was obviously her fault.

Or am I going to get screwed over by AA insurance!

You've filed a police report right!

usefulidiot, Jun 22, 8:45am
Phoned the police.Since nobody was hurt, they don't need to know about it.

smac, Jun 22, 8:51am
Go do it in person at the cop shop. This isn't about whether or not they want to know, this is about you showing her insurance company you are serious. No report, they can sit there and say "what accident!".

For real get a police report.my son would have been blamed if they had not turned up and proved other driver was totally in the wrong and now has to pay for all damage to my son another car and his own car. Fully insuranced but as not sons fault he has no excess to pay which is the best thing about a fault free accident

Because you don't have your own insurer involved, you will need to call her insurer and confirm that she has set up a claim, and you will need to keep chasing them until they pay.

You will get there in the end but be prepared to make a lot of phone calls chasing them up about it. They may make you jump through a few hoops also (statutory declaration that you were uninsured, etc.)

As Kaz says, get a police report (with an incident number) set up. Without one of these, there's really nothing much that proves to her insurer that your car was involved.

Just got back from the police station.A report has been filed.Hopefully I don't need it and she pays to fix my damage without any hassles.

Why bet that you will have an accident!

xpfairmont, Jun 22, 2:44pm
Her fault. Black and White. Her Insurance will ask for police report etc but it is not necessary. I was uninsured and was cut off/made to swerve off the road by a 10 ton truck that ran a give way, I hit a parked car. Both the parked car and the truck owners where insured by the same company and TRIED to take me to the cleaner. But as it turns out, not been insured has NOTHING to do with who is at fault. Witness's are everything.

Go to her insurance company and fill out a uninsured/3rd party claim form and go from there,if they start to give you issues, just tell them you will get your solicitor involved, they will move very quickly as they hate dealing with solicitors/lawyers.

What has that got to do with the price of fish!

gman35, Jun 22, 5:42pm
Just checking you did'nt have your RH indicator on like many other muppets who are only driving straight through !

usefulidiot, Jul 14, 4:02am
I don't indicate right if I am going straight because I'm not turning right. The woman has phoned at least three times today, apologising and asking if my two year old is ok.He was in the rear left, her car had just missed his door.Looking at the damage to both vehicles, it's clear what happened and who's at fault.

I don't have insurance because it's one of those things I've had to sacrifice in order to feed my kids.
