Its a nissan thing

moosie_21, Jun 22, 12:54pm
relay may be frayed/snapped, check that

escort72, Jun 22, 1:17pm
Its generally a fault with Nissans, absolute pain in the ass.

thats your partner's job

how do i check the relay!

bae13, Jun 22, 6:06pm
what relay do you want to check, the tacho doesnt have a relay. the only relay would be the ignition relay, but the car would be cutting out at the same time, your issue is with the dash, i would be 99% sure of it, nissans are very common for this, you could send to me for repair if you like, see myprofile for details

narnies, Jun 22, 6:42pm
What you mean with the dash as in a loose connection! its not affecting the car at all just the rev reading on the dash.

bae13, Jun 22, 7:13pm
the dash as in the gauge cluster assembly with the temp, fuel, speedo, tacho in it,
i said if it has a relay fault, the only one that would affect tacho will be the one that does the ignition system, if that was the case the car would cut in and out, it doesnt. so your fault i suspect is in the dash cluster/gauge assembly

narnies, Jun 22, 7:14pm
Its only started doing it since its had a new head unit put in.

narnies, Jun 22, 7:27pm
googled it and someone had a similar problem and it was the diode!

fordkiwi27, Jun 22, 7:30pm
heesssss baccckkkk

andrea_w, Jul 14, 12:14am
OP : It has zero to do with a head unit, period.
bae13 will be correct. the fault will be in the instrument cluster somewhere (well as said. a 99% chance)
