The 3rd photo down on this link is the same model you have on here. Curious about this car, was it an ex Russian Embassy car by chance as these were used by Russian Embassy's around the world.Where is this one located! Car isn't all that old either as this updated Volga GAZ 31105 model started around year 2000. Frankly your missus got a "steal"!

Might be tacky in your eyes but I'll bet it would just drive right on through your car and keep on going, these are built like a T34 tank, and believe it or not are more than a match in a collision with a Vanguard Phase 3 and they were tough old cars to be sure.

Wouldn;t be a problem fixinga Lada. You could take to a Massey Ferguson Tractor repair. Or if you know a Army mechanic who will be experienced in heavy vehicles .Wont be any scanning involved.
