Know a guy that lost a bit of his arm doing it around Southland - hit the wrong mailbox - clever cocky had hidden a railway girder in behind it (looked like an innocent bush with a mailbox in it) so whack went the iron bar into it & shattered his arm from the wrist to the elbow

Farmer friend of mine had his letter box knocked down twice, it was mounted on a pvc pipe, so he put a steel pipe into the ground sticking up about 3-400mm, then put the pvc letter box pipe over top. Late at night, one very nasty sound followed by a flapping sound driving away. In morning, sure the box was over again, but there were bits of what turned out to be 4wd bits and an oil trail going down the road.One very sad 4wd a couple of km down the road, buggered sump and suspension, oh dear how sad.

Unless you were driving on the footpath and are really good at dodging power poles it would be rather difficult in most cites/towns in NZ.

Good fun, go for it. Scout out a stretch of road first a few days before though so you don't hit any "surprises" as mentioned before!
It happens in rural area's it's happened twice to me the second time I was off to bunnings to buy another mail box, just had the round post left completely gone, then 2.5k down the road sore something red in the middle of a paddock sweet my mail box.

2 guys i know in Tauranga were having a quiet beer outside and heard a ball bearing .rattling in a can.they snuck out the front and caught a piece of shit like this mailbox hitter,tagging their fence.they painted him with his own paint tin,young teenager started to cry.cause they had got paint all over his brothers coat and he would get the bash from his brother.I actually caught some young guys smashing letterboxs at the Mount,they spent the night in jail.be warned you loser !

Elderly gentleman in Putaruru put nails through his mail box as he was sick of having it ripped off its post,I used to deliver milk to him and he just warned me so it wasnt me that got caught when reaching behind the box,go the mighty old guys.
