Does anyone know if a 2 litre pinto engine will just bolt in to a Mk3 Cortina that has a 1600 in it! Wanting to put a 2 litre in to it have been told that it will just bolt in but not to sure, also will a sierra 5 speed bolt in to it too!

no it wont, youll need the 2.0 engine mounts, the sierra box will bolt to the engine, but you will need to have your driveshaft shortened

and make a gearbox mount. (and sort out the speedo drive) and while you are under the car fit a driveshaft safety hoop, you will need one for cert as it is a repowered car.

Is it a 1600 crossflow or OHC you have in there now!

buy a 2L mk4/mk5 cortina that is suitable for parts and swap the whole front end over, they bolt in. and the mk5s have larger swaybars so a slight improvement on the handling. a 2L cortina driveshaft is suitable for a 4 or 5 speed gearbox. and to mount the 5 speed sierra gearbox you will need the gearbox crossmember off an automatic 2L mk3, 4 or 5 and the sierra speedo cable (longer than a cortina one). all is a bolt in and requires no modification to the cars body or driveshafts etc

Its just 1600 OHC with 4 speed and want to go to 2 litre OHC

i have used the original sierra cross member with a short length of (around) 1 inch square box section welded to it and two holes drilled thru it to bolt into the original holes on the vehicle. if you want a real good 2.0ltr and 5spd watch my auctions next week.

why piss around with old technioly put a zetec motor into it much better car then, im in the throws of putting a zetec in to a mk2 escort with the 5 speed from a sierra sw, going from 1300 to 2000cc
