Denso fly by wire pump. What do you know about the electrical side! What does the pump do (electronically) upon cold start! How do I test the two injection correction resisters, timing control valve and fuel temp sensor etc on the side of the pump! I assume they all require know resistances at set temperature to test if so I just need data. What do we know!
Yea well i am no expert on electronic crap. I have to learn all thet one day only know how the principles work and i like theunit injected tdi vw the best as they are still mechanical and only the injected amount of fuel is electronically controlled i got books only for bosch here.

Yes very similar system great when they work, I had a Tdi Skoda that did over 550000 km on the original pump and injectors. I??

well you talk about the washer on the injector where it screws in the head! I find most problems are with faulty glowplugs. But a to thick washer would alter the spray distance and lower compression. as we know low compression = bad starting on cold also. The good thing on vw isyou just hook up the laptop to the obd2 plug as where the toyota are far harder to get diagnosic tools for.

is it smoking on cold starting . Any coughing noises!

rule all mechanical faults out first glowplugs valve clearanceetc then you know that its got to be something else. the advance for coldstart on diesel is on older diesel like the choke. all it does is move the body of the internals a few degrees towards early injection. When it runs well once warm then its got to be with coldstart. and the only aiding thing for coldstart are glow-plugs and good compression . dont know if its got 2 glowplug system one on air-intake big glower like the 2C toyotas.

Correct the crap on the side of the pump dosn nothing in our temp range here in NZ. makes a difference in colder countries. Rough startup on a 1KZ I would be checking compression and Pressure test cooling system. Those large washers! are they stepped!. The 1KZ uses a stepped seat insert in the head and on occasion they can come out when you remove the injector. But if the seat is still in place then fit the correct seat washers and see if it makes a difference.

Yes that??

Nah no intake heater on them. And they run a superglow system. 3 sec burst of 12v to a 8v plug then a short after glow 5-6 pulses

i would check the injectors for correct pressure! Diesel compress hot airand fuel gets injected so if the injectors are rooted then it could do this but you would or should have other symptoms intermitted ones. For example a fiat tipo i purchased smoked like hell at times . right did think damn turbo has pooped white smoke and coughing like its got low compression on 1 cilinder. but it came and went that symptom now thats not low compression So i unscrewed the injectors and tested em they spray way to much fuel. took em apart and they where complet rooted on the tip. I do think this is what ULSD ultra low sulfur diesel is doing it premature wears the injectors nozzle to death its why i always say to add chemtech or other lubrication additives. I fitted the injectors from my punto und woala it ran fine on cold start also.

Compression checked cold and all good. Cooling system Pressure tested and good also. The insert is the nozzle seat in the head (they??

can you get a set of injectors from another 1kz .te ! because that would instantly confirm if your injectors are rooted or wrong. usually pop pressure is different . like my lucas crap pump on my tipo blows off way below the bosch injectors. autodata should have pop pressure i think should be within + - 50 psi

Good thinking, if the local wrecker has some they??

hi james try pumping up fuel on filter plunger before u start cold if very soft and takes a while to go hard could be the plunger is letting air in over night and injector pump lossing pressure commen on a lot of toyotas , hope this helps , phill
