You have probably picked the worst time to try and buy from Japan. The prices' over the last few weeks have been ridiculous! I can't even land anything for the price I am selling for. Have bid on around 1000 cars over the last 2 weeks and I purchased 1. I can buy cheaper here on trade me! How have you found it Kaz! Every dealer I know is saying the same thing. I'm guessing the local Jap market are trying to replace stock that was written off in the tsunami, which has pushed prices' at auction through the roof!

300 000 cars got written off during the earthquake and tsunami. To assist this in affected areas the Japanese government are are remitting consumption tax and assisting with freight to a dredged areas. This combined with a lot of component piers being knocked out of business and the power problems have resulted in Toyota production down by 75 per cent. We can not buy the trade ins if the new ones are not being sold. This plus the obvious resupply on the domestic market makes it very hard to import currently. It should come good later in the year by which time the import emission changes should start stuffing it again.

Prices had been high in Japan for a long time before the tsunami etc, You just have to know where to look to find the good priced cars. All dealers in NZ always say there is gloom and doom buying in Japan.Just need to look hard and I never ever said I was offering my service as a business, I offered to help out and not once said I needed to be paid for it. I am helping heaps of friens buy cars from japan with no gain in it for me. I won't pay for the cars, But I don't want a profit either. Just helping out.So where was my crime in that !

thats what I used. got the car in less than 2 months after the auction. Also, you can talk to their agents directly thru Skype. pretty handy especially when you'r a first time importer
