And it still took you 5.5 hours! Your doing it wrong, I know someone who did it in 4.45 hours (serious) and not hitting 260kmh once or even close, however if it makes you feel like winner congratulations! ( I do think you are full of shit though!)

what nanas think doesnt bother wrong2
interesting that you believe faster is possible tho!
guess ive got too much respect for built up suburban areas aye

Well kudos for that, but I guess what im trying to say is it doesnt matter if you do Auckland to wellington in 4 hours or five hours or 6 hours, your not a hero and it doesnt make you a good driver, a good driver follows the laws of the road, and if you have a powerful car then find a more positive outlet for using it then setting fast times between cities cause any knob end can do that!

getting close to the mighty SONIC BOOM that makes any cop shit them selves
wrong2,
Jun 8, 1:22pm
your completely wrong
mindless obedience to the law isnt what keeps a car under control
legislation & road rules are not going to save you when you have to dodge something
when you hit a slippery surface, legislation & road rules are not going to bring your car back under control
making people believe they are safe just because they go slowly is the complete wrong message. fixing the problem will cost mega dollars when instead they can make believe strict speed enforcement is solving things

SHOULD BE 90 MAX 100
rob_rooster,
Jun 8, 1:43pm
Mindful obedience to the law, not mindless, but I can see where you are coming from, however would you want to dodge a wayward cow on the road while doing around 100kph or 180kph. I know which speed I would rather be doing when faced with a situation such as that or a diesel spill on the road. Of course there is no getting through to you because you sound young and full of ego and you know best.
wrong2,
Jun 8, 2:25pm
why bother replying if thats how closeminded you are. people double my age sky dive & bungy & race motor vehicles so get off your "only young people take risks" baloney (im 35 - 25 years experience on sand, gravel, & tarmac)
dodging cows at 180 ! yeah ive had too. put my head under the bumper of a camper van whilst dodging on the gravel at 100 km/h ! yep that too
trying to scare me doesnt work. ive done it to myself far worse than any "naughty naughty" words will ever achieve. & like any decent speedster ive analysed deep & hard the mistakes that have caught me outso i could live to scream around another day
so there :P
rob_rooster,

I do wonder why I am replying myself as I usually have a rule of dont feed the trolls! Well forgive me but if you are 35 and still tear-arsing round the roads you really should know better! Yes I know people twice your age are still bungy jumping skydiving and the like but guess what, their daredevil antics will not generally affect me or anyone I know, but people who induge in risky driving on the public road expose other innocent people to risk and that is just not on so you can get your cheap thrill behind the wheel. I see you like driving games, well better to stick to them for your enjoyment as they have a restart button if it all goes pearshaped and you might not be dead or in jail for manslaughter!

Reinforce the hell out of the back of your car then when someones up your rear do a swift brake.

I'd like to be allowed to drive everywhere at 150km/h.
But then I look at how lost and unskilled most people on the roads are, and I'm glad that they're all limited to 100km/h.
So I guess that to avoid looking like a complete hypocrite, I have to go along with the 100kmh limit also.

Speed Kills! but you get there quicker!

i love how you equate "knowing better" with nana driving
sorry but just because someone going faster than 100 doesnt mean they are unsafe
plenty of "safe" 100 km/h obeying drivers are much more UNsafe than i - & sometimes the Worst age group for crashes/deaths on our roadsare the 35 - 45 year olds. guys & girlswho apparently "know better"

nanas around the world agree
im wondering why so many from knitting click on motoring by mistake

There is no knitting forum so work that one out and yes I am stirring.

"it takes more skill to drive at the speed limit than it does to push a car along faster"
dont see how you can wriggle out of not being a nana with an attitude like that dude

If I want to go faster( or to get somewhere quicker) I fly.i.e. in aircraft.

NZ wide 375 accidents over the three day weekend tho. I hope no one was too badly injured. There may be a Zero road toll but what about the permanent disbilities and disfigurements!

As i see ityou are dead if you prangat100 kph or 120 kphiff the road is goodi dont see why notgo 120 .Last 1 I sawmddle age couple in10 year old BMW 535just turned onto main rd & hit head on by kid inWRX STI he had bought that morning , couldnt take the corner . Both killedbut kid hadhis leg cut off& survivedwierd .

if speed kills myself and the 30 or so others on the race track at taupo on the weekend should all be dead, but we are all alive and not one fender bender even in the rain.
johnf_456,

Yup you can't compare a race track with a public road, like when did you see blind pedestrians crossing the road on a race track.

I can't be bothered going over 4 pages of "He said. She said." - so if it's been said before: what-eva! ;)
The poster goes on (and on and on.) about"Why do people feel it is their god given right to go over (the open road speed limit)" BUT then ADMITS to doing the same: ".and get right up my backside if im (sic) travelling at 100 or 102 kms."
Ooooh, um, isn't doing 102 kph OVER the open road speed limit!
Fail.lol
You negate/lessen the, even valid, point you might of been trying to make - something about throwing stones in glasshouses comes to mind.
So "eddiedean" what gives YOU: "the god given right to go over (the open road speed limit)"!
(P.S.: Just to make sure you understand, and not wanting to continue this thread any further than this post -that was a rhetorical question.)
And: just in case:
Definition of "rhetorical question": A question asked merely for effect with no answer expected.
With 24 years on the road as a courier and over 4 BILLION (o.k., o.k., approximately! lol) kms of driving:If some one pulls up behind me and want's to get through: as soon as it's safe to do so - I pull over.No probs and no shame what-so-ever.I don't care what speed I or they (even if they are, oh-my-gosh, speeding) are doing.I'm not a police officer - if I think some-one's being unsafe I let them through - and call the cops - that's what THEY are there for not US.What "god given" right has ANYONE, let along little ol' me, got to hold any one else up when I can safely pull over and let the other person though! (rhetorical.)Maybe their loved one just got run over (by a speeding driver.) and they're rushing to the hospital - who knows why they are speeding!I don't.You don't.So pull over.Simple.Really.
People: help one another. On the road, in life, where-ever.Please.
:)
