not the first motorsport death to pass threw the nz media unnoticed, its very sad.

I have never called myself a pertolhead.

We don't generally get much coverage or media interest in the TT Races for some reason. Someone seems to die there most years, if not a competitor some over zealous fan trying to emulate the racers. Great achievement though and hellish risky.

Me either, PETROLhead maybe.

Is that like a turtlehead!

I'm sorry, i didnt make myself very clear. I was annoyed at the achievement of 8X TT Titles going unnoticed.

Yes, anyone who has competied in the TT gets my vote for having big balls or being quite mad. And yes someone dies most years there. If you havent seen it on TV watch it sometime and you will see guys living on the edge, probably more so than any other event I know of. NZ has produced a few winners of the TT.

my regards to the departed
the TT gets in our news when a kiwi dies/ falls off

Good, they only blow it out of proportion, call for more safety barriers and all sorts of silly nonsense anyway.

Im actually surprised this event is still going. They must have a sensable approach to life an PCness over there.

safety barriers are not "silly nonsense"

they have a more organised approach , across europe measures have been out their to get rid of motorcycling since the early 90's

An amazing feat winning (or even finishing) 8 times. Check this out for some appreciation of this race. Put it on full screen and go for the ride.
Look at pukekohe when that Porsche went over, those fences are pretty substantial but people were up in arms anyway. It's unreasonable to finger point then stand with you nose against the fence, although that was pretty freaky how that happened.
The jetsprints at mememere I was always well back but some would stand right against the old speedway surround. Keeping yourself at least partially safe is common sense but sadly too many people lack that. Ever tried to push dopes standing too close back! They protest profusely, I blame most morons for their own demise if they are gunna be that dumb

meremere ! pukekohe !porsche ! jetsprints!
im sorry but you seem lost - theres few motorcycle events like the TT. safety at the event is not "silly nonsense"

Yep, humans are very lacking. Down here they jump the fence to get a better view, odd no one else has though. And at the street drags some twat always finds the perfect veiwing spot that 2000 other spectators couldnt. And when they are asked to move over the loud speaker they look around looking for another twat in the wong place.

Any street race is potentially lethal, it's most often logistically impossible to eliminate the risks inherent in racing around infrastructure designed for everyday commuting with all the associated trappings of civilisation right alongside.
I was talking about the media getting up in arms in general. Watch on the news and they make silly "calls for reform" cause they found a couple irate spectators from some big crash, then again that's the media for you

The Isle of Man is nothing short of Mecca for most motorcyclists. My bucket list has a trip over there on it and a "Mad Sunday" blast on the Blackbird. (just Google "Isle of Man mad Sunday).

You will only hear about if he was killed unfortunatly. There should be some TV coverage on at some point. Has been in the past but its always guesswork when.

well generall is the place to take it
OUR media can do nothing about how a country on the OPPOSITE side of the planet handels itself

My ex's brother lived there for about 1yr when he was still with his ex & he's ridden it on his old CBR900 a few times. He reckons it's pretty wild.
