Hi there, looking for pics and info on the Morrari - a Morris Minor lo lite that was draped over a Ferrari race car chassis and powered by a 327 Corvette engine. It was built and raced by the late Garth Souness in '63/'64 in the All Comers class at Pukekohe. We are looking for info here: http://www.nz-hotrod.com/vbulletin/showthread.php!6827-Garth-Souness-Morrari
Your help is appreciated - keen to locate anyone that worked on it or knew people that did.

Glen Jones who built it for Garth passed away some years ago.
RIP Glen.

I've got a couple of pictures I scanned recently.
The original Ferrari is back as a F1 car in the UK, these days.

Did you know Glen or know someone that does! [email protected]

Them was the days

Goddammit, bring them back I say. That was truly the golden era of motor racing in this country when Kiwi ingenuity could cobble together a competitive (if unsightly) race car in a shed somewhere.

I cant log on to the HR site for some reason but can help with lowlight parts you may need. The morrari was part inspiration for my own
modified morrie and although never intended to be a replica, does have a very similarlook. My father had something todo withthe morrari (he was a engine reconditioner) but is now gone. Most of what I knewabout the car is already on the forum but ifyou are beingreally fussy on details, the Morrari was a 50minor not a 49 likeyou have and is actually a bitdifferent.

Ha. Garth Souness. I remember back in the stockcar days at Epsom show grounds. As kids you could pick your favourite driver and wear his number on you shirt. I had Garth Souness #99.

We built Kerry Grants first Austin Farina at Selwyn Motors Ford Dealers when I was there about in about 1955-56, great wee car and very fast for it time.Racing on standard 5.6013 in tyres.

You may know my father then. Les Berg.

Willys coupe raced by Red Dawson was bought by Lin Neilson of Dunedin, motor was taken out and put in a Mk3 Zephyr and raced for a season.

the name Les does sort of ring a bell but not remember, which department was he in!

He was a mechanic for them for quite some time. Not sure, but did Bill Mark also work there!
