WTF? WHY?

phillip.weston, Jun 8, 6:00am
It's a Patrol not a Safari - and why not! Seems like a sweet thing to do.

mate that thing is slick!

guider1, Jun 8, 6:25am
It would fail a wof on the wheels alone sticking outside the guards plus it's got no cert. Boyracers wrecking perfectly good 4x4's now. I own one & at 150kph (downhill) they're an unstable 2700kg mass of steel.

a patrol and a safari are one and the same thing some are batched patrol and some safari most jap imports are batched safari for some reason. thats all there is to it.

ct9a, Jun 8, 6:51am
boy racers! people for many years have been using chev, rover, lexus v8's into many off road vehicles more recently 1jz/2jz into hilux's and now rb's into 4wd nissans either path chosen i find it crazy a vehicle like that is put under that term.

I want it!

phillip.weston, Jun 8, 8:34am
It was my understanding that Safari = SWB and Patrol = LWB. But either way, the truck in question is badged as a Patrol and it has been listed as a Patrol also - why would he call it a Safari!

phillip.weston, Jun 8, 8:34am
$15k last time I checked.

jason18, Jun 8, 8:45am
That would be mean on the hills haha. I would love to rip shit up with that!

It just goes to show the complete sheep mentality of people that even use the term.

Auction closed.No sale.The reserve was.20 grand.

i have a LWB safari, its identical except without the crap engine under the hood. mines 4.2. safari and patrol are exactly the same. and probably for maverick for that matter. LWB or SWB doesnt matter to what badge it has

rob_man, Jun 8, 3:36pm
It looks like he should have cleaned the salt off the engine a bit more thoroughly after that last rip up the beach, the fishing line and stuff in the back gets you thinking.

snowballs4, Jun 8, 7:03pm
rb30s. carburetted single-cam ,come standard some ofthese, he would of put a 25de head and a turbo and away you go, a bit more complicated than that though, the 1st ever rb4wd was a rb30e

grangies, Jun 8, 7:25pm
A waste!

It has 300kw. And buy the look, it has 300 fairly reliable kw.

Better than the factory option.

jezz43, Jun 8, 7:27pm
better than a reliable 4.2 diesel! define better! sure you could go offroad in it, you could stay on road in it, but could you use it to tow aswell as the diesel does and pull similar loads on long distances! i cant imagine the engine lasting very long pulling 2 tonne

grangies, Jun 8, 7:34pm
I doubt they had pulling 2 tonne in mind when they decided to put that engine in it.

I'd guess they wanted it to be quicker and cool, for something different.

It's a one off Safari/Patrol, so who cares about it's towing abilities.!

tnt423, May 20, 4:16am
All he has done to it was put a twin cam head and turbo on it, some did come out factory rb30 in Aussie, The Patrol is NZ new and 12v the Safari is 24v.
