for the last two days ( and nights) I've been trying to get one to fire, the ignition pulsor appeared to be working - sometimes - so stripped off the side of engine and found a few cracks in the cables, repaired those and had good spark, by then the battery was a bit low so grabbed the tractor battery and the jumper leads and clipped that in, no spark, rechecked pulsaor, no go, located another quad similar and stripped out loom and all electrics, fitted pulsor, still no spark Went over the loom with a fine tooth comb, no faults, everywhere I check I had correct voltages etc Finally had enough and slammed the shed door, went inside grumpy missus says 'hey if you've got 12v everywhere it's got to be the earth side thats twistin ya nipples" just went out to check, and find a broken earth wire at the neg terminal on the battery ( hidden under the jumper leads), grabbed another small jumper and completed the earth - now have sparks galore, doh!

Maybe your missus should be working on the quad and you could make the bed and do the washing and stuff.

lol, it's her quad!, its been playing up for a while, erratic spark etc, cannot believe that even with at least 3 earth wires to chassis, and battery earthed to chassis, there is still an earth wire from the ignition box direct to battery and nowhere else - and murphy says that is the one that looks good but is actually not closed properly onto said earth wire, and doesn't show itself as a weak link until you actually bump the wire with the jumpers - when it immediately falls out and breaks circuit, but you cannot see that cos the jumpers now obscure your view
