Who has used these and with what kind of results! Which do you prefer!

Used both. Both used for different reasons. Brunox is very good and has never let me down. If you ask ill tell you what and how ive done with it lol.

Lol, ok so what and how! I am using it to do a beach buggy floor pan and although I have been painting for about 15 years have never worked with rust proofing (always left it to panel beaters) Am swaying more toward brunox as have heard Por 15 can be tricky if you get one of the 3 step process wrong

POR likes rough surfaces, too smooth and she peels easy as. Im a panel and paint guy. I took the cars from bare metal to the paint and polish. Had a car come through that was strippd to bare metal buy hand but the owner didnt want it blasted in any way and this thing was surface rust from front to back. All pitted as it does. Well what can you do. There are options like deoxidine etc but I choose to spray a fine coat of brunox over the whole car. Leave it to cure and prime away with 2pak. The car has been painted 7 years at least and has no issue at all.Have done it a number of times since and with no issue. So go for it.

ahh yes good old deoxidine. Tried and proven over the years. Thanks for the input, Brunox is looking like the go, will be rust converting it first as well. Do it once do it right aye. Well then the plans for this weekend are 2 minor welds a bit more flap disc work and rustproofing the buggy floor. WHYYYYYYYY do we as painters take on such big jobs lol. This is the last project I will be doing (honest)

Interesting application gunhand. Did you spray straight from the tin or thinned out a bit!

Straight from the bottle through a primer gun. Just a single coat is all you need. If it don't turn purple there was no rust but it dosn't matter at all.

Um, Brunox is the rust converter. Its all you need. then prime etc.

Brunox here for simplicity of use and like Gunhand I've had nothing but good results with it. My other favourite is PA10, never had a failure with that either but not as a rust converter, just a failsafe etch over steel.

We always use Brunox on cut & welds and have never had a problem. Straight out of the spray can tho, as it doesn't like x contamination.

Yeah it is a rust converter, guess I am just not so keen on putting it over surface rust when it will cost an extra $12 and an hour to give it an acid wash. I know it sounds a bit over board but I would rather see the rust go away before covering it up

Know how ya feel.I done a very simpe test years back. Gotrusty panel treated half with brunox and left other half as is then hung it on the fence out side. I can tell you the rust treated side stayed just the same for a very long time while the other side continued to rust. It works.

Unhand do you really think it will be as good as por-15! I'm not heckling as I have not used brunox but I am a bit nervous given it's for the floor of a beach buggy. I'm keen to try it too if it's that good though.

No idea, there both excellent products in there own right. If you want a good system for a floor or hard wear area you can use Brunox first then a product called ( ive forgotton LOL,RustX! ). You get it from most paint shops and its a enamal that is a rust kill and top coat. takes forever to dry but goes as hard as hell. Comes in pale green yellow blue white and a few other colours. Ive used it on steal stairs and fire escapes plus painted over some patchs on a trailer. works gooder.

Cool I will look into it. I like the easyier to use products like that and use eastwoods at the moment but still like por 15 for real trouble spots or areas that get pelted with road debrie. Cheers for the advice.

Hi jazz. From what I have been hearing around panel shops Brunox is better and what the others are saying confirm it.
The paint techs I work with said Por -15 can be a b@#$%@d if you dont use the wash and prep products as well.
Anyway mind is made up on Brunox and I will be getting a bottle from work tomorrow. Am going to brunox the floorpan and topcoat it in 2pak. Might as well go overboard considering my labour costs me nothing anyway.
