Any idea what it can be?

When my 1997 Nissan Stagea RB25de is run up to normal engine temperature and your on about 25% throttle doing anywhere from 60kms to 110kms plus and in top gear, it starts to stutter. But when it underload it fine. It pick up, revs fine but only seems to do it around 2000-3000rpm in top gear.

Also it sometimes does has miss when you taking off, going speedbump etc

We have look at all of the coils and cant find anythink wrong with them, just change all the spark plug. What else should we be looking at it!

Could it be somethink to do with the fuel! Fuel filter! Fuel pump!

Or could it somethink wrong with the throttle position sensor!

We done few diagnostic test and have not come back with any codes. Also i not have the check engine light come up.

Any help will be awesome.

Cheers

dont know if its relevant but ive seen a sr20 do similar sounding things with an out of adjustment tps

it has a miss from idle to 2000-3000rpm! have to set tpm!

It doesnt seem like coils. Only does it when it hot and in top gear. It feels like that someone is pulling it back and forward.

Airflow meter was replace about a year ago and have try other and that not the problem

coils can break down under load and heat so i say change ur coils or it could be an ecu or igniter problem that isnt registering an error code

vr4_legnum, Jun 2, 7:11pm
We going take for a drive and this time we going doing diagnostic test when driving and see if any codes come up and turn off and on the coils by one.

I was hoping to be selling it, not spend money and all this time on it.

Do you use 91 or 95+ fuel!

jsbike, Jun 2, 7:15pm
mine had a slight miss at lowish rpm, was most noticeable at idle and top gear when cruising. It was low compression in one cylinder. Above 3000ish rpm or when on boost (was a 25det) it ran sweet as.

vr4_legnum, Jun 2, 7:16pm
Use 95 most of the time and sometimes 98

vr4_legnum, Jun 2, 7:20pm
It does have abit of backfire(feels like coming from letf side) when it going up in the revs but not all the time.

We did find that cylinder 5 and 6 have been running abit lean

jsbike, Jun 2, 7:22pm
do a comp test! my money is on 6

grangies, Jun 2, 7:22pm
Bugger. LOL.

The mechanics on here will find the right answer.

I have found this Trade Me Motoring forum to be quite informing and precise, as long as you read the posts, from people who know what they are talking about.

Will get one done. Cheers

You could check for blowby by removing all the plugs and then putting them in one one at time and turning the motor over (unplug cam angle sensor 1st so injectors and coils dont fire). If you find a cylinder that makes more blowby than the others it will have low comp on that cylinder. You can check for blowby from either the hose that goes from the drivers side cam cover to the inlet manifold, or the one that goes from the passengers side cam cover down to the rubber inlet pipe on the turbo. whichever one you dont use to check for the blowby, you will need to block.

Cool, Cheers for that info, Will have a look over the weekend.

My wagon is non turbo and has got the rb25de

Is it a cvt Trans!

vr4_legnum, Jun 3, 5:21am
No, just normal auto trans.

mon2010, Jun 3, 2:34pm
Seeing its auto, its easy to adjust the tps. The trans will "buzz" when you move the throttle from its idle position. Adjust the tps so there is no buzz until the throttle is open a tiny bit. You will need do this with the ignition on, engine off.

Was looking at some stuff about the car last night and i found the old aa report.

Back in late 07 when the car had done 95,163kms,
Cylinder 6 had about 90% when all other had 95 to 100%. Car has now done 137,000kms

vr4_legnum, Jun 3, 3:39pm
Cheers for that, Will give that a go.

Just abit of a update.

Have been for a drive and done diagnostic test ect and come with nothing.

Now we thinking it could be somethink wrong with the transmisson. Going start with a service and flush
