I bought a car about a year ago, and did the normal checks on it to see if money was owing etc, and it all came back fine.then about 2 months ago I had a private investigator call me asking how I obtained the car, and whether I dealt with the previous owner (which I didn't, I bought it through Hamiltons Auto Aucioneers), because they were investigating him. They said because I paid for the car and received it in good faith, the car is rightfully mine. But now I am trying to sell it, and an interested buyer said that a search (done by his finance company) showed that my car was used in part of a crime and that there was a 'government hold' on it.SO my question is, what the hell is going on! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Go & seepolice take all details in & they can put it through their computer , it may not have been removed after the crime was dealt with .

Thanks, I rang the police and gave them the number plate and they said the car had been looked into, but nothing came of it and it definately isn't 'wanted' or anything like that. Is this what 'government hold' refers to!

Ring the grubbyment and tell them if they want to have the vehicle on "HOLD" they could buy it off you. A bonus is they would probably pay twice what it is worth!
