This question is probably really for AVI??

jono2912, May 26, 10:14pm
I would of thought a 'wheel' bearing, would be in 'wheels' and tyres.

But I do understand your dilemma.

I click steering and suspension. Part of steering/suspension in my opinion.
Edit or drive line which would be other

1,2 or 3 - doesn't really matter, their not going to hang you for it.

franc123, May 27, 5:54am
If NZTA's checksheets are to believed it should be entered under Hubs and Axles! Of course there isn't a category for that, there is only Tyres instead of Wheels and Tyres as a fail category, so it doesn't fit that description either. I've always put it under Steering and Suspension.

steering and suspension

bjmh, May 27, 5:59am
steering and suspension .as previous reply,it doesn't matter to them so long as they have all these big stats to prove how dangerous cars are being driven on N.Z roads, its all bullsh.t, whats to stop an a.v.i from serviceing a car, repairing any faults, then doing a w.o.f check and passing the same vehicle. Then the stats would mean squat.

ct9a, May 27, 6:09am
steering and suspension for me also.

evotime, May 27, 6:17am
I believe they compare the average nation wide stats with the AVI's stats come audit time it wouldn't benefit anyone to do it that way. but I see what your saying.

bjmh, May 27, 6:47am
have you noticed how the auditors get all ecstatic when they find that you have rejected x amount percentage.even if the last 20 w.o.fs you did only required a bulb for a number plate light.the ultimate safety item.tui moment.

ct9a, May 27, 6:54am
its all a load of nonsense , heck il crack open the tui midday

johnf_456, May 27, 7:11am
I put it under steering and suspension, wheels and tyres is the rims / rubber to me.

johnf_456, May 27, 7:14am
Good point, i often service cars and often notice faults before i even get to the wof.

bjmh, May 27, 8:17am
i went to a w.o.f update course last night and we were advised that you are required to check the seal under the correct fitting fuel cap.visual inspection is morphing into more removal of parts.but don't charge any extra

bjmh, May 27, 8:30am
yer i was aware of cap.but how many guys actually remove the cap to check the seal

johnf_456, May 27, 8:34am
Well NZTA bosses have to justify there bonus somehow.

carmedic, May 27, 4:28pm
We are all clear that the VIRM section is called ???wheels, tyres and HUBS??

ct9a, May 27, 4:30pm
i do,my pattern when i pull in is pop hood, boot and fuel cap

johnf_456, Apr 8, 1:50am
Well you know what I mean, sorry for not making it the exact wording. But that is a very good point, if NZTA themselves cannot answer it. If they can't tell you its no skin off our nose to do what "you"and "I" think is right
