have new car with a key imobliser have no idea how it works ,I thought it locked the car but it doesnt, unless i put key in lock so can someone pls explain this little device thankyou

Immobilizer is so that no one can put a key that hasnt been coded to the car to start it. therefore the car is immobilized. It doesnt mean it has an alarm. Its electrically coded to the car (generaly to the ecu) some have there own ICU (Immobilizer control unit) to which the key is coded. If you go get a new key cut it has to be one that can be coded. Some you can code yourselves, others need a tablet to be hooked up to code. All depends on type of car
