Well I think they do an important job. They just dont do it with.any common sense.

It is important for parking but when they do wof and rego which is a policing issue.
cocabowla,

get real, if only the police checked wof & rego's everyone would moan they are wasting time & should be out there stopping serious crime etc. IT IS a legal requirement to have up to date rego & wof to LEGALLY operate any vehicle on the roads , if a parking warden sees your unlawful vehicle parked on a road why shouldnt they . its not their fault there are people who think "they" dont have to obey the laws .

Yes I know, but the council solely use it as money making which has no benefit to them. Parking has time limits so people don't abuse it and so others can come by and use the parking. and the police already do tackle wof and rego daily!
I am not saying you should drive around with no reg or wof but what I am saying is it is not a council issue.

once upon a time I had thought that parking buildings were private property [because you pay to be there]. but it seems they are allowed to go in there & give tickets for various offences inclucing if they think the vehicles tyres haven't enough tread. not fair [& no it wasn't me]

To be fair, I saw a warden in Auckland today who was putting reminder cards on windscreens of cars which had near to expired or just expired WOF and reggos. Better than infringement notices!

Thats a first! ^

And another thing, he was asking who owned a couple of cars that were illegally parked and gave them a chance to move them before tcket writing and calling the towies. It was a joy to watch during lunchbreak.

I got one of those today, I didn't realise my rego expired on the 8th, that was on the North Shore, they don't give warnings in Waitakere.

I know - dammit.
cocabowla,

making money but they have no use for it !they can pay the wardens wages for starters
the time limits so they dont get abused ! HELLO john, they dont have a rego and or wof means they're already abusing rules so why wouldnt they abuse time limits !
will your next argument be that its not fair to have both police stopping you for speeding and speed cameras also catching you out.
johnf_456,
May 22, 8:24am
I am not going to bother arguing you with oh and police do book people for speeding and for everything in one hit. I don't have a problem with that as its their job has a constable not some person hired by the council to make the council money. And stop calling me john its johnf_456. You have missed the point completely. What next a council person coming to your house to give you a fine for not doing the dishes.

when you pay REGO and WOF, the money goes to the government not the local council, The city council's parking wardens can remind you your rego/WOF is out but they should have no right in trying and make money out of motorists who park their cars there.with WOF or Rego out of date. Does that mean anyone who parks their car outside my house which is situated on a private road with expired WOF/REGO, i can go out and ticket them! Why don't the councils do more to ticket people who blatantly throw rubbish on the street and re-enforce that more seriously.

Yup or tackling J walkers.
n1smo_gtir,
May 22, 8:58am
J walkers are the biggest thing in busy CBD areas. wellington's new bus route system has already successfullyaccomplished knocking out 3 J walkers whith serious but stable injuries in the first week of opening the new route to public. Having reducing traffic speed to 30Km/hr hasn't done much in terms of how many still blatantly walk out in front of a bus or cars absent minded. May soften the blow slightly [live with permanent injury and severe immobility vs instant deaths] but if they issue J walkers with a $150 fine for jumping out in front of a vehicle that's likely to cause driver to take evasive action, HOPEFULLY, it may help reduce the number of car vs ped casaulty too.
