Private sale from an unlicensed seller! I don't think you have any.
Let the buyer beware.

Honda autos. I don't trust them much more than Mitsi ones.Did you have it checked out prior to purchase!Unfortunately you don't have much of a case unless the seller obviously mislead you.

yea, I think your first port of call was the seller, good luck.

wtf. you buy a car with a slipping transmission which pretty much means that it's on its way out, and then you complain when the transmission does in fact actually give up entirely! If I were the seller I would tell you to walk on by - he made it perfectly clear that it had a fault and you took the gamble on purchasing it expecting it to run without a fault.

Count yourself bloody lucky that you dealt with a nice guy.
He owes you nothing, the auction was pretty clear.
You took a risk and it didn't pay off.

Reckon count yourself lucky, least the seller was honest to tell you about it most would hide it or deny it. Just like people that drive cars with known radiator leaks then wonders why the head blows.

You know this holden arguement gets lamer by the day. Funny how their is another thread about holdens with cracked heads. Lamo

I do know about holden its just more fun watching you wind up like a toddler in a toy shop thinking they are the best thing since sliced bread. Thats what I go at, I don't go at the faults of them if you have not noticed. Holden is not the best car ever built and the sooner you realize not everyone thinks that the better. Funny how even phillip was getting stuck in to today.

"Unfortuntately his transmission is starting to slip, more-so when cold. When he's all warm his transmission works better and he is still driveable (I still drive him to work)."That should have set some alarm bells going, however it is good that the seller is going to come to the party.Personally if I was going to buy it I would have done so knowing that I was going to have to replace the trans sometime soon.

Correct, what else can you do other than be honest tell a trader what faults their is when they ignorant enough to ignorant then cry when it goes bang.

Totally agree, there was a fault disclosed with the transmission, which anyone with half a brain would only have bought it if they intended to fit another transmission, sounds like the OP is ripping the seller off here.

If you want rights and warranties you go and buy from a dealer and pay their retail, not buy ageing unchecked Hondas with clearly disclosed faults.I'm totally with the others on this, you are lucky that the seller even wants anything further to do with you,I commend him for disclosing what he did, not his fault that people jump in the deep end without thinking about what they are doing.Unless you have or could get hold of another good trans and put it in yourself you should have avoided that car like the plague.

If I was the seller frankly I would be very pissed off that you came back expecting me to do something about it. I just bet the price reflected the worn out trans as well. Some people want everything.
