or even get a rough idea, between a blown head gasket or cracked head! Without tearing engine down of course.

No way to tell between the 2, it has to be a visual inspection upon tear down

Ginga is close enough to correct on this one Lugee

Was pretty sure it was going to be that way. Bloody car doesn't want to show any definite signs of head gasket failure. Only thing I've got is coolant disappearing and water dripping from the exhaust. No milky oil or oily coolant.
What tests would you recommend to get done to find out! Compression test! Leak down test! Exhaust gas in cooling system test!

Get a KayTee test done first (or is it TK!) to see if there is carbon in the coolant. It is the best option and much faster than a leak-down or compression test. Is the vehicle overheating yet!

No runs nice just right temperature wise, runs like clockwork too (apart from a little misfire thats probably because the plugs are like 12 years old lol)

Well, perhaps don't pick at the scab then!
Also, you could have a pinhole in a coolant hose that you can't see until the pressure is up. The exhaust moisture could just be normal but you are looking for a problem due to the coolant loss. I dunno.

Yeah its just starting to get old topping the coolant up every now and then. Also the radiator was repaired due to leak about 9 months ago, but I think its been loosing coolant since then as well. But I guess it could still be the radiator leaking a bit. I'll just try get a test done for emmissions in the cooling system. Thanks

A little misfire and plugs at least tells us it's petrol. K.if it misses slightly when cold and is a 6cyl ford then the best test is to remove the spark plugs and leave a pressure tester on the radiator when cold-or preferrably overnight. When wound over with the plugs still out water will exit from no6cyl. at least it's not an expensive head crkin diesel. (and if it's an older 6cyl coon-post back)

Start with the basics put a pressure tester on the system and look for external leaks. If you are getting a little miss fire when starting from cold for a few seconds could be a head gasket issue. I prefer doing a leak down test. Little more time involved but much for accurate.

Its a Honda D16ZC engine. It actually runs better cold than warm (doesn't misfire cold, but starts after a min or two) The misfire is about 1 every 10 seconds and seems to go away at higher engine RPM.
