If you got a car tested by Inspection Services 5-6 weeks back with no note made (just negotiating price over that time) and the owner said he would puta WOF on a car before you took ownership of it (issued from VTNZ) less than 3 days ago and you noticed that the rotors were obviously warped after picking the car up.No obligation from the previous owner but would any responsibility fall onto the VTNZ station. maybe not so much the pre purchase check as it was well over a month ago.

A wof is in no way a guarantee, rotors can wrap and also vtnz do not do road tests.

Why/how!

Warped rotors show as a pulse on the brake rollers, needle gauge, thats why they dont need road testing doh

I realise that they can warp, thats why I have stated that the rotors are warped. In spite of a WOF being a snapshot in time of the road worthiness of a car it just baffles me how they could give it a WOF with rotors that are obviously stuffed.

Can be picked up on brake roller.

Type slower john!

The pedal pulses at motorway speed and coming to a stop from a lower speed with moderate pressure you can feel the rotors grabbing.
Dodgy WOF as is I haven't warped rotors in the last 2 days.Barely done 20km.

Is that necessarily going to fail though!Under reasons for rejection VIRM says:
a) the vehicle vibrates under braking to the extent that the control of the vehicle is adversely affected, or .
Which sounds pretty severe

Yeah my bad typing on phone so I do abbreviate sometimes. Its also johnf_456 not john.

Put it this way. I will be changing them as soon as possible.I'm not a mechanic but I wouldn't be 100% confident in them if I had to stop suddenly from 100kph.

Lol just we normally call people by their nicknames not whatever the profile says. But meh whatever

Chocolate fish to you sir.Since brake testing is not done at motorway speeds, unless the AVI considered the above was bad enough under normal test conditions, or the rotors looked to be undersize and thus a wheels off inspection is ordered to determine compliance if they can't be accurately measured wheels on they will pass.Brake rotors are a consumable item and there is pretty clear cut criteria for their passing and failing, if a wheel was badly out of balance and vibrated through the steering at highway speeds, you just deal to it and get them balanced, or if they're in the latter part of their lives, replaced.Ditto rotors.

Friendly!
_peas,
May 20, 7:04pm
Point taken but it seems odd that you can get a WOF with something that could cause a pretty major accident at high speed.
Is 456 some weird binary code for Kennedy!

the f is quite easy to work out, ends in wit

also I must do some pretty selective reading. I haven't really seen any offensive/rude posts from john which requires the amount of sh*t he gets back! or I am just blind! (quite possible.)

THERE, fixed that for ya . ;-)

It's in part due to Johnf 456's personal habit of NOT wanting to get too familiar with other msg brd posters, particularly on a "personal/buddy buddy" type level. Unfortunately for Johnf, he's made that part, common knowledge
