Anyone willing to pick an early F1 winner for 2012

master-trader, Jan 27, 4:20am
Some of the cars are looking 'interesting' . Do you think Vettel is that clear cut he is the winner already !

I'm think the Mclaren or Ferrari team will supply our winner this year in both the driver and contructors championship

alonso.and if the Iceman is given a decent car these two should have a ding dong battle all year.my darkhorse would be Massa.last year in red so expecting somethiing from him.but yeah red bull i guess.lol

Ah interesting thoughts , Raikkonen and Alonso battling it out could make for a good year.In dreamland I'd love to see Schumacher come through but not a reailty in the car he has.

What's Lotus running ! A Renault !

dante055, Jan 27, 5:29am
yeah Lotus Renault is the team name i believe.Williams could be a surprise package.all new suppliers there.hard to know really until we get a couple of races in.but heres hopin Vettel can at least be keeped in check this year.even it's by Webber.i really enjoyed the mid pack racing last year.

As much as I still live in the fantasy land where Schuey dominates everyone I don't think its going to happen.

Vettel showed himself to be an aggressive contender and there's no reason to doubt him again this season.

Massa has always been a strong driver, but he's lost his edge since his accident. Alonso's a toolbox, Personally I hope its his last season. He's nothing without a good car.

Lotus has no chance.

Good to see Glock still has a car.

It'll come down to RBR and Mclaren. Ferrari might have a showing if they've spent a lot of money and brought out FIA for this season.

Mercedes I have little faith in.

Also, good to see the 4 cylinder idea went into the bin where it belongs.

Stupid idea in the first place.

Vettel is probably the pick, I would love to see Hamilton get his old form back. Shuey is still a talented driver but seems outclassed by the newer young guns.
To see someone new come up through the ranks would exciting. Bring on the new season, even though my lovely wife goes "is it that time aready!".

Would love to see Kimmy make a blistering comeback (long shot), but can't see Vettel losing it.

I`d love to see Button or Hamilton take the fight to Vettel. Or Alonso for that matter as well. And hopefully Massa will find his form again (but I doubt it). Bloody Schumacherneeds to retire and make space for younger (and faster ) talent. But I`ll be happy if it`s not a one horse race again and things get mixed up this year.

That guts me actually. Regardless of what you think of the guy, he's a multiple champ and it's almost embarrasing for him to be running mid-pack after coming out of retirement. Doesn't help that the RBs have been streets ahead of everyone for the last couple of years.

I think Schuey would be better on the sideline as a mentor for younger drivers and a team-builder. The culture that he and Brawn built was superb - no reason they couldn't do it again at Mercedes and be competitive in a couple of seasons.

On past form, Vettel but I'd like Button to do it. Can't overlook Hamilton, but until the first race weekend, we won't really know what has been going on during the winter layoff.

rayzor14, Jan 27, 6:34pm
I'll go right outside the square and say Kimmy.

As for the comments re Shuey - let's be real, he was never drafted into the Mercedes team to win a world championship. They aimed to have him develop a car over two seasons that would put them in a position to have a shot. This season I guess is where we will see if he has managed to assist in developing that car.

Will be interesting with the 1.8 V6's though, maybe it will even up the field a bit. Go Lewis!

Button orVettelcool level headed drivers , Hamilton is too aggressiveloses his cool & loses the car .

richard198, Nov 9, 4:15am
It has to be down to whether Ferrari or Mclaren build a competitive car or not.
Alonso, Button and Hamilton can match (and beat) Vettel with the right car.
