I can combine both of those stories into one, with a woman who complained that her car had blown a head gasket and overheated a mere week after getting a new WOF and wondered why it wasn't picked up!Sorry but WOF's are not a substitute for maintenance or for diagnosis of mechanical faults but some people for some weird reason think they do.

Disgruntled supposedly "qualifiled painter" customer: "That paint you sold me didn't match the car, it got darker as I sprayed it on!" Me, " You did stir it!" Cust, " Huh! don't you supply it properly mixed ready to paint!" Me, just plain gobsmacked.

i was doing a job for a customer,it came up he had a pig which kept popping its snout ring open and losing it what could we do!i suggested trying to pin it,was told it was to small to do that.he asked if i could weld it shut.i tried to say it wasnt a good idea, the ring would get stupidly hot etc,but he was still quite keen.turns out the pig was 70 odd kilo, told him if you can hold the bas#%#d down i can weld it.thankfully he never turned up another one came in wanting us to weld his partial dentures.told him to go to a dentist .na na you blokes can do it.ended up asking where the camera was cause this has to be a joke

had a guy come into the garage once that wanted the garage owner to pay for the panel damage to his car. He had loaned his car to his son because his son had come to our garage for a warrent.it failed so he could not use it till he fitted two tyres so had borrowed dads car to go to the shops and he pranged it. This in dads mind was our fault at the garage and he wanted satisfaction. Duh.

Oh yes the "my son" stories, some of them are classics.Having pulled a few motors/gearboxes out of Legacies and Imprezas and Skylines and Cefiros to deal with knackered clutches, and shown Mum or Dad a.k.a the walking credit card the evidence along with the heat cracked and blue flywheels and pressure plates either side of them before doing the repair and getting the "my son doesn't drive like that" speech I can identify with that.Same with the young guy in the B4 who limped in a few months back with clearly a big end or piston on the way out, an angry red oil can showing on the dash and not a skerrick of oil on the dipstick, and after being told so saying to us "But it didn't sound like that last time it did it" before backing out and smoking the road up and redlining it in first gear. How green are some parents!

Not quite along the same lines. But I still laugh at the amount of installs (or reinstalls) I have to do, because some 'car enthusiast' has twisted and taped the wires together for their headunit/speakers etc and they blow fuses and they cant work out why.
Ed: Well, they blow fuses. If they're lucky.

I was going to try some steel trays but im concerned my tyres would melt under the heat which could be produced. Maccas trays dont last very long

Sounds like an excercise in humility to me.Those amongst us that drive properly grunty cars that can smoke the rears without even trying on a normal road surface would be wetting themselves with laughter if they saw some twat trying to do that in a Civic or Pulsar or similar. Is diesel still required to even get the fronts going lol!
